Programme Structure & Content

The Leicester MBA programme has been designed to cover the spectrum of management subjects, calling on the wide range of expertise in the University. Each subject is taught from basic foundations before moving onto specialist areas in more detail and candidates are not, therefore, required to have studied management previously.

The main objective of the Leicester MBA is to give students the skills necessary to become a competent and capable manager. Our aim is to enhance students' ability to evaluate and analyse evidence and implement appropriate decisions in any business.

Leicester MBA programme has an excellent international reputation for the development and the teaching of management knowledge and skills which are intellectually stimulating and highly relevant to their career needs. The programme combines the highest academic standards in management with knowledge of the demands of organizations, both public and private, domestic and international, to meet current and anticipated needs.

Leicester's strategy for teaching excellence is through an industry-led approach using case studies, supplemented with state of the art knowledge from staff engaged in research within the University.

The Leicester MBA is cited in national and international surveys and is one of a small number of UK courses to have obtained accreditation for its full-time and distance learning programmes by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) .

Upon completion of the Leicester MBA programme, students will develop:

The Leicester MBA programme provides students with maximum flexibility to allow candidates to remain in employment or professional practice while maintaining their earning power during their course of study. The programme also gives maximum enhancement of career prospects from continued experience and new qualifications, with minimum disruption of planned career path. It is a cost effective means of achieving additional skills and qualifications


Academic Support

Students will be supported by both the University of Leicester and Hartford Institute Singapore through various flexible mode of learning, including specially designed and written course materials, textbooks and additional readings, e-learning academic supports, face-to-face local counselling sessions, video conferences and faculty visits.

Students will receive face-to-face local academic counselling sessions and seminars that delivered by academic staff from the University via both video conferences and faculty visits.

User-friendly online library and resource centre is available for students, together with an interactive learning environment directly supported by the University.


Assessment

Students will be assessed by combination of assessment methods, including 9 assignments, 2 examinations and 1 management project.


Admission Criteria

Due to stringent criteria of the University, we only admit candidates with proven leadership potential:

  • A recognised Bachelor's degree from a fully accredited university/ college
    Or
  • An accepted professional qualification deemed to be equivalent to a first degree
  • Minimum two to three year s of relevant work experience at executive/management level
    Proficiency in both written and spoken English

There are four intakes a year, commencing in January, April, July and October. All admissions are subject to the approval by University of Leicester. Candidates are encouraged to check with Hartford Institute of Management concerning their admission and processing status.

Completed application forms should be accompanied by:

  • 2 photocopies of both undergraduate and postgraduate (if applicable) certificates and transcripts to be certified as true copy by Hartford Institute Pte Ltd
