Programme Structure & Content

The Hartford Institute  Advanced Diploma programme (specialising in Events Management)  can be completed in 18 months on full time basis and  24  months on part time basis.

Students will complete 9 base year subjects, followed by 7 or 8 specialisation subjects. Upon completion, they will be awarded the Advanced Diploma in Business (Specialisation). Students who complete the first 9 Base year modules, and exit the programme, will be awarded the Diploma in Business.



Students can be ensured that they are equipped to meet the ever challenging and changing global and local marketing environments.Students will be provided with the necessary skills and knowledge to take on these challenges. Students will also be given opportunities to apply the knowledge and skills which they have acquired through this programme to deal with different real life scenarios through case studies and project based methods. This is to prepare students for the ever changing dynamic and entrepreneurial marketing world.

This programme certification receives advanced credit standings to universities in United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand for degree courses in business. With advanced credits, students will be able to complete the relevant Bachelor programmes within 2 1/2 to 3 years.*

COURSE SYNOPSES

Customer Relationship Management
This course covers customer relationships management (CRM) and the customer driven, market–based management practices that assist an organization in attracting, satisfying and retaining customers' profitability. The learners will learn the skills to utilize CRM more accurately in evaluating the marketplace, evaluate competitors and determining the lifetime value of the customer.


Introduction to Events Management
This module provides students with an overall introduction to the principles and practices associated with planning, managing and staging special events. It looks at the concepts involved with event planning such as management, stage and logistic management, marketing and promotion, event evaluation and reporting.


Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions
This subject gives the students a good insight of the importance of MICE in the tourism and hospitality industry. Topics that will be covered in this specific sector of the industry include the following: history, structure, different players of the MICE industry, technology, types of events and special requirements, scope of the MICE industry and sponsorship.


Customer Relations Management

Events Sponsorship
This subject provides you step-by-step guidelines for attracting, signing, and keeping sponsorship for any mega events. It also teaches you the various successful strategies and tools in maintaining your company's competitive edge. Topics that will be covered include marketing mix, making a proposal, selling sponsorships and of course closing a deal.


Festivals & Special Events Management

This subject offers students a good understanding of the various skills in organizing special events that have grown into a massive industry worldwide, generating billions of dollars for countries. It provides a comprehensive overview of the theory and procedures essential to managing festivals and special events. Topics that will be covered include importance of information technology, economic impact of events, and the strategic marketing of events.


Event Risk Management & Safety
US Presidential inauguration day. In this textbook, it presents theory and practical applications covering topics such as measuring risk, alcoholism and drugs, crowd control, fire safety and emergency medical services, food and water safety, outdoor events, VIP's protection and much more.


Event Management Internship
Throughout the three-month attachment, the program will facilitate student learning opportunities outside the classroom. Different business organizations will have different modes of training which would be typical in real-life environments. This internship provides experience-based learning that enhances students' academic and career goals. This exposure will give students' opportunities to apply classroom theory to “real world” situations.

Academic Support

Students will also get weekly Counselling sessions with highly trained professional, who will be able to provide an added dimension and insights into the Business environment in Singapore.

Assessment

Each module is assessed by a combination of some/all of the following:

Admission Requirements

  • GCE ‘O' level qualification, with at least C6 for English and Mathematics, plus one more 'O' level subject or
  • ITC/ITE graduates from certificate in Office Skills, Certificate in Business Studies (Accounting/Secretarial) or
  • A minimum of 12 years of basic education
  • Relevant diploma holders from government polytechnics and recognized educational institutions will enjoy module exemptions
